Lecture by NBU Representative: The Role of Central Banks in Modern Economies

The Department of International Economics hosted a joint lecture with Olga Kardashevska, a representative from the National Bank of Ukraine and the Head of strategic planning of the Department of Strategy and Development. The event took place as part of the course “National Economy,” taught by Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of International Economics Olena Korohodova for students of the “International Economics” educational program, 051 Economics. Students from the Departments of Economic Cybernetics and Management of Enterprises, as well as lecturers from the Faculty of Management and Marketing, also joined the Zoom conference.

Students gained unique insights into the role of central banks in modern economies, specifically focusing on the impact of the NBU on the financial system and economic stability. The lecture covered recent changes in NBU policies, its collaboration with other financial institutions, and monetary policy tools. This allowed students to understand how central banks contribute to the efficiency of the economy and the country’s stability.

Such events are highly valuable for students as they deepen their understanding of economic processes. The knowledge gained from Olga Kardashevska was further practiced the following day in a practical session in the form of a business game.
