According to the key tasks of preparing specialists, scientific-educational work of the Department is based on five main directions: Economics One of the essential skills of an economist, an engineer, a manager is an ability to make well-founded decisions. The main instruments of substantiation are economic calculations, first of all, estimation of engineering and economic efficiency of decisions. The task of the Department is to provide students with scientific and methodic fundamentals of economic instrument of decisions’ substantiation. Mathematics An economist’s competitive advantage includes skills in application of mathematic instruments in management. Most of Nobel Prize winners in economics field have received world fame for creating economic-mathematic models. High dynamism of the factors of the market environment and operating in conditions of uncertainty strengthen the urgency of such skills as forecasting, modeling, optimization during making decisions. This principle is realized through saturation of economic disciplines with elements of economic-mathematical modeling, application of them in course works and diplomas. Engineering One of the main factors that stimulate increasing of national enterprises’ competitiveness on the world market is innovation. An engineer is a creator and the source of innovations. Engineers (inventors, designers, technologists) take part in creation of new goods, improvement of their quality and consumer characteristics. Application of technological innovations and new progressive materials allows to decrease resources’ consumption and production price. Students of the Department gain knowledge on following subjects: Design engineering and computer graphics, Systems of technologies, Commodity research, Substantiation of engineering decisions, Organization of manufacture etc. A lot of excursions are organized, which allow students to observe high technologies and modern methods of management and manufacture at Kyiv enterprises. Informatics The Department provides students with modern computer facilities (23 working places) and Internet. The multimedia technics is used on the lectures and seminars. Students have access to the electronic lecture notes and methodical instructions. To develop professional skills students learn such disciplines as economic informatics, information systems and technologies in international economics, information systems in international business. Linguistics Students are granted to learn foreign languages during 9 semesters to get strong language skills. Moreover, they learn not less than two foreign languages (English and German, French or Spanish). Up-to-date technologies are used for studying and foreign specialists are invited to give lectures. Besides, students have an opportunity to use foreign language in writing and defending their diploma project.
